About Treatment Associates, Inc.
Treatment Associates, Inc. was started in 2004 by J.S. Stone, MD following the approval of the use of Buprenorphine for opioid dependence. The program was designed to fill a much needed gap in Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) for community outpatient treatment. There are currently three offices which are located in Montpelier, Morrisville, and Barre, Vermont. Treatment Associates is currently utilizing a hybrid model of treatment which combines in-person and telemedicine services.
The program serves individuals who are struggling with substance abuse and/or mental health disorders in an outpatient setting. The program utilizes counseling and (as appropriate) prescription medications to support addiction and mental health recovery and utilizes a five-tiered phase system to determine the level of care a person receives.
Treatment generally begins with a weekly commitment (2-3 services/week) and gradually slows to weekly-monthly group/individual counseling for the duration as the client gains stability and remains in full compliance. Compliance includes regular counseling (group and/or individual) attendance, urine drug tests (as appropriate), and medication counts as required. When requested, clients can be slowly tapered off Buprenorphine products on a voluntary basis.
Treatment Associates, Inc limits the acceptance of clients to individuals who reside within a 20 mile radius of the nearest office. Treatment Associates, Inc provides highest priority intake and treatment to pregnant women and strives to provide services or support and referral to those who may be pregnant, parenting, and/or using substances intravenously within 48 hours.
There are four providers that prescribe Buprenorphine products at our offices. They are: James Stone, MD, Nicole Valcour, DNP, Emily Levan APRN and Victoria Bruyette PMHNP- BC.
